May 21 - We hope you've had a nice, safe long Victoria Day weekend. Have you known that there is an online discussion on changing the name of the commemoration of Queen Victoria's birthday from "Victoria Day" to "Victoria and First People's Day"? Argument of the petition is that the current name does not cover all the aspects embedded in the meaning of this holiday. The petition states, "all in Canada would have the opportunity to celebrate our continuing relationship with the Crown and with the Indigenous peoples of Canada." As we are all about multiculturalism here at MBH, we'd like to know what do you think about the meaning of this day and multiculturalism in Canada? Leave us a comment below and follow our Facebook page to keep in touch with MBH. Image source.
