Exercise & Cancer prevention

http://mibofit.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/exercise-may-reduce-your-cancer-risks/
Are you a couch potato? Or do you consider yourself an active person? It’s quite common now for people, especially for women, not to include exercise in their day as life can get quite busy with work and family.
I find it when physical activity is being done in a fun and social manner, and not be felt like a repetitive and boring regimen, is the most successful method. Physical activity is not only to appear physical fit from the outside, but is more importantly to make you physically fit from the “inside”.

Researchers have found that thirty minutes of moderate exercise, three to four times a week, can help decrease risk of certain kinds of cancer such as breast Cancer. In fact, according to the National Cancer Institute, there is a 40% reduced risk for developing breast cancer for physically active women!

Benefits of physical activity include:

·        Prevention of chronic diseases such as type II diabetes, heart disease, and cancers of the breast, colorectal, lungs and uterine
·        Improving growth and development
·        Maintaining a healthy weight
·        Making an individual stronger and more energetic
·        De-stressing and prolonging independence as you age

Here are a few tips on getting started

·      First and foremost, it’s important to be advised by your family doctor about the suitable exercises and intensities if you have been inactive for a long time, or have a medical condition that can put you at risk. Your doctor will likely suggest a suitable activity for your age, fitness level and your general health. The key thing is to slowly work exercise into your daily life, gradually increasing your pace over time.
·     Swap 30 minute of television for a 30-minute walk each day
·      Stretch throughout the day, it helps relief tension after sitting for long periods of time
