Think Pink!

This beautiful song sung by Enya, Angel, along with the inspirational quotes about hope and self-empowerment make it a wonderful video to watch.
Personally, Enya is one of the singers I have always loved to listen to. Listening to her angelic voice has always felt like an escape to a peaceful and tranquil place.

"Once you choose hope, anything is possible" – Christopher Reeve
What are some quotes you enjoyed from the video?

Breast Cancer Myths

When a myth, a strong belief about a certain topic, has been around for a long time it becomes integrated in your brain as being the truth and will likely become "common sense”. This may be acceptable for certain topics but not when it’s concerning an individual’s health, especially for serious diseases such as Breast Cancer. This is because myths about certain diseases that may prevent preventative measures from taking place, becoming a serious matter. Cultural taboos and values play a big role in introducing and shaping those myths, and can clearly differ from one nation to another. It is therefore important to understand the difference between truth and myth.

In this video the most common aboriginal myths about Breast Cancer is presented, but also likely reflects what most women of many other cultures might believe is true. What other myths can you add to the list that you have heard of, or is strongly believed in, in your culture?

Understanding Cancer

We strongly believe, surely you will be in agreement with, that educating yourself about a certain disease such as Breast Cancer and understanding its nature and the preventative measures can help save lives. Even though this video states the estimated deaths for American woman in 2011, it points out up-to-date vital information. Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer in women, and is the type causing the highest number of deaths. However death rates have been decreasing, especially for those under the age of 50, due to early detection such as a Mammogram screening and increased awareness. Make sure you visit our “Contact us” tab to have a Mammogram booked by the help of one of our friendly MBH health educators, and increase your awareness by following our Blog!!
